As you plan your essay, consider the following questions:

• Should we arrange our English courses by time period or type instead of theme?
• Should all students be asked to read certain authors? Certain genres? Certain types of work?
• Should each course include a mix of contemporary and classic authors? Should it be about interest, rather than time period?
• What books will help get students ready for college?
• Are there larger issues to consider here?

This essay will be typed, double-spaced, in a readable 12-point font, as long as it needs to be. You should cite your evidence (including surveys) using MLA formatting (including a Works Cited page).
