OVERVIEW

I-Search is a project based on student inquiry, discovery, and personal growth. This is an interesting and complex piece of research and writing, and it is important for you to be aware of the many challenges ahead. An I-Search is a personal (hence the “I”) quest for information about a topic of intense interest to the researcher. With the I-Search, you are encouraged to examine the relationship of the information you gain to yourselves as individuals, researchers, and community members.

The first step is brainstorming topics of interest and then selecting a topic for this in-depth study in a conference with me. I give you three general categories: professions, topics or issues, and activities. You need to pick topics to which you are really committed; if you aren’t, you should switch early while there is time.
