7TH/8th GRADE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER

The Division 1 Learning Specialist is the primary person responsible for overseeing implementation of IEPs in the seventh and eighth grade. This person also serves as co-teacher with regular education teachers and an eighth grade advisor, as well as providing support in class and teaching guided reading and mathletics. With such specific roles, the Learning Specialist is an integral member of the Division 1 team.

Specific Qualifications:

  • Successful experience as a special education teacher with middle school students, with a minimum of three years in public schools.
  • Strong background in special education, as demonstrated through academic preparation, professional experience, and personal interests; strong skills with computer technology.
  • Massachusetts certification in special education preferred; or readiness to become “highly qualified” by passing the Massachusetts teacher tests for special education in the first six months.

PART-TIME ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE TEACHER

The school is hiring a part-time certified ESL teacher to work with its one English Language Learner for about 2 periods a day.

Specific Qualifications:

  • Successful experience teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Strong background in ESL, as demonstrated through academic preparation, professional experience, and personal interests; strong skills with computer technology.
  • Massachusetts certification in ESL preferred.
